Where I'll Be This Afternoon

The Mount Vernon Poetry Festival -- I'm one of the judges and I'll be giving a 10 minute reading. What a lucky day for undergraduate poets from Washington-area colleges and universities!

Oh, and btw, everything I do in life is complete, utter bullshit. But you knew that already, didn't you?

You see, I think the opposite. Everything I do is art. Everything.
Even this post, this small,
beautiful comment
is art.

See how it draws your eyes
down the page,
pulling you into its
warm embrace?

Yes, art.
Some might say, the One Art.

Wait, wait, where is this unlimited sex from admirers? I have been sadly misinformed about being a poet...

sex? i'm still waiting for the admirers!
waaaiiit a minute--the writer (we'll call him "mr. bing") is messed up. how can a "dead caboose" "diddle students"?
and "...sponging off friends and other nonprofit organizations"? what is this _other_? my friends aren't nonprofit organizations.
if only our dear mr. bing had consulted a poet--s/he could have cleared up all this sloppy language use, i'm sure of it. we get mocked, but many of us are somewhat useful after all.
