Good, I'm glad kids got their own poet laureate. I was tired of having to share with Gideon. Back off pants pooper, Hall is mine, all mine.

There are some really awful kids poets out there- I mean, who's next???

and after that?

perhaps this will encourage some people to consider writing for children.

The only poetic thing I remember from my childhood was "Say Uncle."

There is actually another poet named Jill Esbaum (her's is one S and sana the "alexander) but she writes kids poems (and apparently gets published by big name presses, huzzah!).

I found this out when someone came to me and said "Oh, I saw the poem you wrote in _Cricket_...."

And I said WTF?

She has a website and seems perfectly delightful. Tho, I pity the parent who, thinking that they are buying a nice book of poems for her kids to read, instead purchases _Oh Forbidden_.

Oh we are dancing, oh we undress,
oh how your hands handle my breasts,
I open like a door, I unhinge...

Now THAT's the kind of poem I wanted to read when I was a kid!
