No I Will Not Be Attending Your Panel

cause AWP is apparently sold out and I haven't registered yet. I usually do that onsite, but apparently they won't be doing any of that -- so they won't be getting my $180 or whatever dollars.

Now I have a hotel room (took care of that over summer) -- and Bloof Books, Coconut Books & No Tell Books will be holding an offsite event on Friday, February 1 at Stain Bar in Brooklyn. So I'll be in NYC, at the hotel bar (in spirit, with the spirits, guzzling the spirits), I guess, which is where I usually end up anyhow -- and perhaps some kind soul will allow me to borrow his/her badge so I can visit the book fair and maybe attend the Ed Ochester tribute or the Liam Rector memorial.

Blah. I'll probably have to kill someone just to get a drink at the hotel bar -- I practically had to last year.

Ha. See you there. I didn't register either. On purpose.

All the fun stuff happens offsite anyway!

I think they're still accepting bjs as payment, though.

Damn, my 2008 resolution is to quit giving bjs as payment. I'm having the worst luck today.

I can always sneak you in inside my gigantic pink laptop bag...
I just registered a week or so ago. They didn't indicate they were close to selling out then...

Just call them. The online system they use is retarded and has a number set as if registrations were t-shirts. So call and I bet you can register over the phone.

C.Dale, it's not the online system, it's the announcement they posted on their site today:

"SOLD OUT! The 2008 Conference & Bookfair in NYC is sold out. No more passes will be sold. No onsite registration will be available. 7,000 people will be attending the NYC conference. Only pre-registered individuals possessing a registration badge will be admitted into the conference events & bookfair. Thank you for your support."

I just signed up to work a 4-hour shift in exchange for free registration. Apparently that option is still open, but for students only, until 1/9.

Ginger, glad to hear it worked out for you.

Dude, you can borrow my magic badge for bookfair sneakiness. I'll be there for like 1000 days, and there's only so many books I can look at!

I inquired with AWP and at the very least, the bookfair is still open to the public on Saturday (and is free).

Shin Yu, well I am glad to hear that. Thanks.

Yep, unless they start requiring badges to drink.

I love you all but I am so GLAD I'm not going to be there this year. There is going to be a blizzard. I feel it in the air...
